Alan,
Have you ever finished reading a piece in Comment and wondered how to integrate its themes and insights into the realities of your own life? Do you ever wish you could engage with the author and explore their ideas further? We’re delighted to announce the launch of a new virtual series at Comment called Author Conversations. In this series, we will invite our contributors to participate in public conversations hosted by our editorial team and open to all our subscribers. Our aim is to make these conversations a regular occurrence, as we recognize that certain essays evoke questions and create opportunities for deeper discussion and exploration.
We’re thrilled to invite you to our inaugural Author Conversation this Wednesday, June 28, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm EDT as Anne Snyder hosts a public conversation between Comment contributors Chelsea Bombino and Laura Fabrycky on the power of hiddenness, motherhood, civic housekeeping, and political love.
This conversation will build on our ongoing quest for a fresh paradigm for thinking and designing effective “seedbeds” of social change. Chelsea, whose piece (written with her husband, Joshua) on “spiritual motherhood” captivated readers in our spring issue, and Laura, whose summer essay “The Birds and the Beguines” sings with a kind of holy defiance and historical recovery, will talk together about the long-term impact of subversive communities built on intimacy with God and service to one another.
There will be a Q&A portion of the event, but you’re also welcome to send any questions in advance by replying directly to this email.
